    14. I'm a beginner. Which videos should I buy?

    a) Many salsa beginners find it useful to learn the more simple but related Latin dance of Merengue which forms a great foundation for salsa. You can master the hip action and the arm work through merengue without having to be too concerned about footwork and difficult beat patterns. All merengue moves are easily converted to salsa by adding the salsa basic steps with the feet. For this reason our "Feelin'Merengue" video is an ideal way to start. This DVD also progresses to more advanced moves so it is a DVD you can return to over and over again as your level increases.

    b) Sooner or later though you will need to work on your salsa timing, one of the more difficult stages on the path of learning. Once your timing is spot-on you will increase your enjoyment of dancing AND your popularity on the dance-floor! Our salsa timing CD, "Salsa on the Beat" will help you find all the instruments in a salsa band so that you can always hear which beat you are on. There's even a salsa exam at the end so you can be sure that you have got it right. You can listen and absorb all the lessons even in your car while you are driving! A perfect compliment to this is our timing DVD "Salsa on the Spur of the Music" where you can see how to dance on1 or on2 and also see examples of dancers who didn't't quite get it right and how to avoid their mistakes. This will be useful even when you are a more advanced student if you decide to convert from on1 to on2 or vice versa.

The ideal investment for a beginner is to take advantage of the savings with our Improvers' Package and buy all 3 products for $60 including shipping costs.

    15. I've been dancing for a while and want to increase my repertoire? Which is the video for me?

If you have learned Cuban style salsa then a good place to start would be our DVD: "Cuban Salsa for non-Cubanos" as it has 33 moves to learn at an intermediate level which in different combinations could give you 100s of variations. From there you could progress to our DVD: "Advanced Figures in NY/LA and Cuban Salsa" which is a great buy whether you dance Cuban, on1 or on2. Our "Feelin'Merengue" video is also worth considering as there are a further 18 moves here which can easily be converted into salsa by adding salsa footwork.
You can take advantage of the savings offered by buying all 3 of these DVDs at the special price of $70 by purchasing our Beginners to Advanced, all styles package.

    16. I want to be able to dance with anyone regardless of their style. Which video can help me with that?

We specialise in helping students make the transition from one style to another having ourselves started with Cuban style, then converted to linear on1 and finally to NY style on2. We can help you to do the same so that you can travel the world dancing salsa and always find your place on the dance-floor! Our DVD "Advanced Figures in NY/LA and Cuban Salsa" shows how a set of new moves can be interpreted in the 3 styles so that you can learn these and then do the same with your existing repertoire. Our latest DVDs, "Salsa with the Stars - New Moves on1, on2 and Cuban, Volume 1 + Volume 2" also show how the same moves can be interpreted in many different styles as demonstrated by our international guest stars. You learn the new material and then you see the endless variations according to style and individual interpretation.

    17. I have a good repertoire of moves but I want to get ideas on how to avoid looking like everyone else on the dance floor. Help?

The only way to avoid looking like everyone else in your home town on the dance floor is to develop your own individual style. The best way to do this is to look at the experts, get ideas from them and then put together what suits you. This can be difficult to do when watching video clips of the stars as the moves are all so different to start with. However, our DVD, "Salsa with the Stars - New Moves on1, on2 and Cuban, Volume 1 + Volume 2" shows how a set of 15 moves can be interpreted by the best dancers in salsa so that the same material can look completely different. Why? Because they all add something new from their personality, their individual style and their own repertoire of tricks. Of the 43 stars in the video no two are alike!!

    18. I don't have time to go to salsa classes. Can I learn quickly from a video? Which ones?

We would always recommend that you learn the basics in a salsa course where your instructor can point out the mistakes of which in the beginning you won't be aware. To accelerate your learning you may consider a couple of private classes to iron out any problems. You will then know the fundamentals and have developed the confidence to dance in public. At this stage you can progress quickly, easily and conveniently from the comfort of your own home with salsa DVDs.

Our recommendation would be to start with the Salsa Timing package - DVD and CD for $40 - save $9 (Salsa on the Spur of the Music + Salsa on the Beat) to really make sure your timing is spot-on. You could then progress to the Beginners to Advanced, all styles package Feelin'Merengue + Cuban Salsa for non-Cubanos + Advanced Figures in NY/LA and Cuban Salsa for $70 - save $17 to increase your repertoire of moves. You would then want to work on your styling and improvisation. To advance your learning still you should consider the Salsa with the Stars package for $60 - save $10 (Salsa with the Stars - New Moves on1, on2 and Cuban Volume 1 + Volume 2)

    19. How do I convert from on1 to on2?

See the answer to question 16.

    20. I sometimes lose the beat when I'm dancing. Is there a fool-proof way to stay on time?

See the answer to question 14b)

Take advantage of our Salsa Timing package - DVD and CD for $40 - save $9 (Salsa on the Spur of the Music + Salsa on the Beat), then practice hard with the examples given and you will soon be able to find every beat in a salsa song and dance on time every time whether you want to dance on1 or on2!
